The Wanganui Function Centre is based at the racecourse on Purnell St and offers a large facility with a number of different sized rooms for a diverse range of functions from conferences, meetings, birthday celebrations, funerals and weddings to larger community events.

We are located in the centre of town with plenty of parking available. The Function Centre is a licensed premises and NO BYO is allowed. All rooms have bars and have access for those with mobility issues. Contact us now for more details or to book in for your special event!

Our Rooms

Eulogy Lounge
The Eulogy Lounge can host up to 500 guests seated at tables and includes bar facilities and large stage for presentations or live entertainment. Located at the front of the facilities with an outside balcony facing Purnell St.

Wanganui Room
The Wanganui room can host up to 220 guests seated at tables and includes racetrack views and an outdoor terrace. The room has bar facilities and can be sectioned off for smaller functions & events as required.

Celebrity Lounge
The Celebrity Lounge (Sponsors Lounge) is a 3 level room and can host up to 250 guests seated. Views of the racetracks and access to the grandstand. Bar facilities on main floor and has toilets upstairs on the mezzanine level.

Veandercross Lounge
The Veandercross Lounge is on the ground floor and can comfortably seat 50 - 80 ppl. Very affordable option for smaller groups.

Buckley Bar
This area is in the Jockey Club end of the facilities and is usually the public bar on racedays. Can host up to 300+ ppl. Hire charges are available on enquiry.

Brent Thomson room
This small room is in the Jockey Club area of the building and suits small get togethers of around 40 - 50 ppl. Hire charges are available on enquiry.
